
Developed by City Labs, Inc. of the United States, the BOHR (Betavoltaic Orbital High-Reliability) nuclear-powered satellite was launched aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket on July 7, 2026, becoming the world’s first commercial nuclear-powered satellite to enter orbit. Equipped with a compact betavoltaic nuclear power system, it can deliver continuous uninterrupted power in extreme environments such as deep space and permanently shadowed regions where solar energy is unavailable, breaking the mission duration limits of traditional solar and battery power systems. This device has been officially listed by LAWRENCE WORLD RECORDS CERTIFICATION as the “First Commercial Nuclear-Powered Satellite in the World”.
